First and foremost, this is a great candle. I bought it as a curiosity when I bought the candle I actually wanted, but ai turned out to like this one better. The glass container is both thick and sturdy, to my tentative tap tests.
The scent reminds me of when I went to Science Camp in the Redwood Forest, and got to take a hike in the woods after it rained. Earthy, cool, soothing, dark, and a slight bit of wood-rot. I have a weird sense of smell, though, so take my words with some skepticism.
Secondarily, I think there's some stuff that anyone buying a candle from this website should know in case they're like me and its their first time buying a scented candle and they're confused about the care instructions.
This is what I think y'all should know:
When I bought this candle, I thought it'd be kinda like incense which you can just light, then forget about. I wasn't sure what the warnings about burn time and trimming the wick were about either. Long story, short: the longer the wick is from the candle, the bigger and more relatively powerful the flame is, which means the wax and oil in the candle burn faster and hotter. The heat messes up the oil, which messes with the balance and strength of the scent and adds a burning smell to it.
Furthermore, candles are not meant for hot days, in my opinion. The scent of the candle is always pleasant, but if it's hot and you need the window open? Don't light your candle. In addition the candle scent does not pair well with cooking food, so maybe wait til after you're doing cooking and eating.
Finally, I was confused by how the flame would sputter and whip around when my window fan was off and my window was closed, which caused my wax to burn unevenly around the edge. Turns out that overhead fans also affect candle flames, so keep it away from those too.
In closing: I love this candle and definitely am going to buy another one when this runs out, but you need to make sure you understand how to use them if you're looking to do it correctly. Frankly, I think it would be cool for this website to have a funny little "Scented Candle Tips for Baby Goths" section that takes an ironic and purposefully condescending tone on how to care for your candles *and* why it's important to do so. Other than that, I have nothing further to say. Enjoy your candles and live well.
